UPWBT R2 UST

It could have been the bounce back game for UPWBT. The girls were able to keep the game close. So how did they do it and why was it not enough?

The UPWBT actually executed better on the field. They made 44.3% of their shots on the field (vs UST’s 28.7%) and even shot better than UST beyond the 3 point arc (37.9% vs 25.0%). If you look at most of the stats, it was really an even match up.

UST knew that we really like to capitalize our advantage on the shaded lane. This was one of the key things UST did – they limited our scoring on the paint. They had more points on the paint (30 vs 34) and they even outrebounded us (53 vs 51).

Their defense also forced us to give up the ball more (33 vs 17). They were also able to convert some of these turnovers to 29 points (vs UP’s 21). We gave up more fouls (19 vs 15) and gave them more opportunities to get points via free throws (18 vs 12).

Again, the girls can learn a lot of things from this game. It is time to put the learnings into the game and bounce back.
