GAME STATS: How UP beat the defending champions and get their 3rd win?

The UP Women’s Basketball Team was able to beat the UAAP women’s basketball defending champions NU to maintain their spotless record. It is the first victory of UP against NU in 12 years. So how did UP get the win?

First, UP’s offense was on point. They had 45.8% field goal shooting versus NU’s 31.3%. Zooming in to their 2pt field goal shooting, UP made 56.4% of the shots they attempted inside the arc against NU’s 32.1%.

Second, they were able to outrebound NU (50 vs 45) and limiting NU to only 9 second chance points. Lastly, defense was also key in this win. The team kept NU shooting at 31.3% is a testament on the defense. They only gave NU 3 uncontested shots and had a big advantage on blocks (5 vs 1).

Moving forward, the team should look into their free throw shooting (65%) and controlling their turnovers.
