After absorbing 2 straight losses, the UP Women’s Basketball Team was able to get the bounce back win in their last game at the Adamson Gym at the expense of the home team. So how did UPWBT get the win?
As always, defense was the key to this victory. They were able to challenge the shots of Adamson and make them miss. AdU had a horrible shooting game, making only 27.1% of their shots (vs UP’s 35.4%) and UP was able to limit them to just 6.3% from beyond the arc (vs UP’s 18.5%).
Though we almost have the same number of turnovers (28 vs 31), UP was able to capitalize better from these turnovers by converting them to points (25 vs 17 turnover points).
Some things that we need to work on is limiting our fouls. Since UP had more fouls (20 vs 17), they had more free throw attempts (18 vs 14) and they were able to convert more of these free throws into points (6 vs 12). And this is another thing we need to improve – free throw shooting. We missed 8 free throws (42.9%) and that could have given us a more comfortable lead.
We really need this win to build momentum towards our next games. Next up for the girls id Battle of Katipunan – can we get our revenge win next week?
