The UP Fighting Maroons co-captain Rhey Remogat is looking on the bright side despite the NU Bulldogs dashing their two-game winning streak in the first round of UAAP Season 89 men’s basketball tournament.
Remogat, who is tallying 9.3 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 4.0 assists for the first three games for UP, retained a positive mindset, stressing that the setback came early rather than in the playoffs, allowing the squad to grow from experience.
“Still, grateful pa rin ako kasi nangyari ito nang hindi Final Four. Nangyari ito nang hindi championship. So lesson learned,” Remogat told the Philippine Collegian following their 64-72 loss to NU last September 26.
“Kumbaga… kailangan naming mas galingan, kailangan naming mas mag-focus,” he added.
The 5-foot-10 gunner also ruled out tactical adjustments and instead remained committed to the established system as they look to get back on the winning track in their upcoming matches.
“Wala namang adjustment,” Remogat said. “Ang sinabi lang sa amin ay gawin lang naming iyong game plan [at] mag-stick kami sa system.”
Despite its first defeat, UP stays at the top of the rankings with a 2-1 win-loss record in the tournament.
UP aims to earn their third win as it returns to hardwood action against the FEU Tamaraws on Sunday, October 4, at 5:30 p.m., at the Philsports Arena in Pasig.
