Win #5 did not come easy to the UP Women’s Basketball Team as they needed extra time to beat UST. So how did UPWBT escape with this overtime win?
UP was able to execute their gameplan better yesterday. They had a better shooting percentage (35.1% vs 31.5%) despite being limited to their season low in terms of assists (13 vs 22).
The girls really stepped it up on defense, especially on the second half. Their full court press really worked wonders for them and enabled them to keep the game close. They forced more turnovers (33 vs 31) which they capitalized and converted to more points (25 vs 17).
The girls also worked to their strengths and dominated the paint on both sides of the court. They had more blocks (7 vs 1) and scored more on the painted area (36 vs 24).
For the next games, the girls need to make more of their free throws. They only shot 50% from the line and missed 14 charities.
